Born From the Idea “There Must Be a Better Way”
A pool room dehumidification specialist came to that realization back in the 1970’s, and like many other innovations, his idea led to finding a better way. In 1985, those solutions were brought to market and his original engineering is still the driving force in Aquametry hotel pool room systems.
Stories like this fill the annals of American business history but we’re not here to simply entertain you with this engineer’s story, we’re here to provide custom built solutions that truly control the humidity and air quality in your pool room/natatorium. Everyone in this business claims they can help you, but, serious problems with humidity in hotel pool rooms prevail. Our engineer worked with many other flawed systems before developing truly effective solutions.
By the way, that first prototype system built in 1985 is still functioning!
The fact that each Aquametry hotel system by DXair is custom built is important. Your needs or your client’s needs are unique. Effective humidity control is not achieved with a canned system. Our years out in the field prove that. It’s also our years out in the field that lends expertise in creating your custom built system that works, and eliminates a myriad of industry mistakes—mistakes that are as prevalent today as they were decades ago.
Just a few costly industry mistakes are:
- Not using mechanical dehumidification to control the environment
1950’s waste ventilation systems (exhaust fans and make up air) cannot properly maintain 50-60% relative humidity and costs 80% more to operate in the winter. See our Waste Ventilation bulletin… - Using the heated swimming pool to heat the room
This mistake leaves an expensive trail of environmental problems, structural damage, and a wake of issues like mold, mildew, and corrosion. See our Heating Space with Pool Water bulletin… - Un-cleanable 8-row evaporator coils
Not only are these impossible to clean, 8-row coils do not remove more moisture than a 4 row coil. See our Coil Myth bulletin… | Also see our 8-Row Coil Study bulletin… | And see a revealing industry case study on coil cleaning myths… - Installing an inadequate air delivery system (ductwork)
At no additional cost, DXair’s engineers will size and submit duct designs and drawings for all systems. See our Air Delivery bulletin… - Inadequate air movement in skylight soffits
Skylights and recessed windows in a soffit traps hot, humid air and must have warm, dry air “washing” them to prevent moisture buildup and eventual structural damage. See our Windows and Skylights in Natatoriums bulletin… - Inadequate mechanical space
This very common mistake saves a few dollars on construction costs only to escalate maintenance and repair costs, eating up the apparent cost savings many times over. Avoiding this mistake saves money and extends the life of mechanical equipment. See our Mechanical Space Nightmare bulletin…

There’s another word that effectively summarizes our approach—comprehensive. The list of common mistakes above is only partial. We’ll help you avoid all those and more. When you discover that our dehumidification systems are cost competitive, and considering how costly and common these industry mistakes are, it makes it too expensive not to have us build one for you.
When that engineer contemplated all those years ago the ineffectiveness of systems on the market, and the difficulty to impossibility of properly servicing them, and when he said, “There must be a better way,” now you have a little better idea why. Ironically though, the thinking behind those other systems that drove him to ponder a better way hasn’t changed much.
Fortunately for you, that better way is available for your indoor hotel pool room/natatorium. Call us and we’ll custom build it for you. And get this…you’ll actually have a real human being to speak with.
